🤔 Red spots, peeling, oily sheen - these can be manifestations of seborrheic dermatitis, but it is often confused with other skin diseases. Due to similar symptoms, acne, eczema or psoriasis may seem the same, but each of these diseases has its own characteristics. How to understand what exactly is happening to your skin?

🔹 Acne (acne)

Acne is pimples that can be painful and filled with pus. They most often appear on the chin, cheeks, back. Seborrheic dermatitis does not cause acne, but is manifested by redness, oily sheen and peeling, especially in the area of the eyebrows, nasolabial folds and forehead.

🔹 Eczema (atopic dermatitis)

With eczema, the skin is dry, cracked and very itchy. Rashes can appear not only on the face, but also on the hands, elbows and knees. In seborrheic dermatitis, the scaling is oily, yellowish or whitish, while in eczema it is dry, fine, with pronounced itching.

🔹 Psoriasis

Psoriasis is manifested by dense red plaques covered with silvery scales. Rashes have clear boundaries and often occur not only on the face, but also on the scalp, elbows, knees. Seborrheic dermatitis has a softer scaling and oily sheen.

🩺 If you notice scaling, redness and itching that do not go away for a long time or worsen, make an appointment with a dermatologist. Timely prescribed treatment will help control symptoms and avoid complications.
